The woman at the other end of Sam's marriage proposal over the telephone is Diane. Although overwhelmed by the proposal, she was neither expecting it or wanting it to be the way to which she is proposed. So Sam makes a date with her for the following night, preparing her to be swept off her feet. Asking the gang for advice about a romantic place to pop the question without telling them that he is actually proposing, Sam decides to do it on a sailboat anchored offshore.
